As a Ruby on Rails Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design, code, unit test, debug and document software code for business applications
  • Modify software based on research and user needs
  • Partner with IT staff on software issues and in developing specifications for solutions
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships in order to meet expected customer service levels
  • Perform middle-tier implementation and integration of backend databases
  • Build test automation suites to ensure the quality of products that impact users
  • Prepare specifications that will be used to write, design, code test, and debug new programs
  • Partner with users, teams and departments to ensure successful implementation of applications and programs
  • Monitor project efforts and report status to management including anticipated/identified issues and course-corrective actions
  • Assist in developing software user manuals

What Gets You the Job?

  • 2 to 5 years' software engineering experience with in-depth knowledge of related technical practices
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Expert-level fluency in multiple application development languages
  • Experience with translating software requirements and developing software design solutions
  • Hands-on experience with varying computer platforms and application environments
  • Experience designing programs, applications, and systems (Ruby on Rails is strongly preferred)
  • Ability to develop multi-tiered software applications
  • Experience working with distributed teams is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills with respect to deadlines and project objectives
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, documentation)
