Meaningful work, solid code, focused team
Flare Health helps doctors find doctors to help you. We work with leading hospital systems across the country to connect patients needing specialized care with their physicians’ expertise. Our mission to make health care better for everyone is what gets us up in the morning.
We have built a sustainable business and are growing the team funded by customer revenue. Recurring revenue increased 46% in 2020 despite the pandemic, and we expect that will accelerate in 2021.
This is an opportunity to work with a small and mighty team. Our leadership also values and understands software development and will provide you with the conditions to do your best work:
Valuing code quality, TDD, etc.
Welcoming exploration of new & different tech to find the right solution
Supporting developer happiness with automation and the right tools
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
Significant experience with full-stack software development, or mastery of one of: a) Ember, React, Vue, or similar, b) Ruby on Rails, c) mobile
Facility with automated testing/TDD, refactoring, and related code craft
Deep understanding of code design principles
Broad awareness of software libraries, data stores, frameworks, etc. in your chosen languages and their benefits and tradeoffs
Pluses: secure coding, dev ops, CI/CD pipelines, interest in user research
Your first year with us
You’ll spend the first month learning about our products and codebase by collaborating with the rest of the team: pair programming to deliver a production feature in your first several weeks and shadowing user research to get some firsthand user context.
You will work full stack on both our mobile and Web apps and Rails/Spring Boot backend, iterating on features until we know they are having a meaningful impact for users. Your insistence on well written, well designed code will find common cause with other members of our team, and your experience with automated testing and knowledge of all the ways it can be useful (and less useful) will elevate our automated testing practice.
Over the coming year you will enable us to tackle strategic technical projects: major, new user-facing features and products, broad architecture & infrastructure improvements to support scaling and high availability, and increased automation of the product delivery and development workflow.
We’ll look back on our first year knowing we did great work together. And three years from now, you will know that you made healthcare more effective, better coordinated, and more human for patients and the people who care for them.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits, including: company-paid platinum BCBS PPO medical, dental, and vision coverage; retirement plan with significant company match; paid parental leave; flexible work schedule and a remote-first workplace.
