Our client is seeking a Lead Full Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer with exceptional web development and leadership experience. This is an exciting opportunity to become the lead engineer of a small, growing and profitable, venture-backed company.

Responsibilities:

• Lead incorporation of new features to newly rearchitected product
• Act as senior developer and team lead in technical development of other products
• Work with vast datasets to solve challenging problems
• Work in an Agile environment writing code and tests
• Ensure existing products are up to date with latest architectures, technologies, and standards
• Collaborate with PhD Geographers and Statisticians to create new, disruptive products

Skills & Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience designing and implementing complex, data-heavy web applications
• At least 2 years of experience with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL / relational databases, AWS
• At least 2 years of front-end development experience using JavaScript, jQuery, React, HTML, and CSS
• Experience with design and building Web API development
• Leadership experience
• Time management, documentation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Experience with PostGIS, Redis, and MySQL
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Github, Chef, and Puppet
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Version Control Systems (configuring Jenkins, Semaphore)
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM a plus
• Data mining experience a plus
• Experience with scaling and performance tuning of high-traffic, data-heavy sites a plus
• Experience with HAML and SASS a plus
