About the Job

* Collaborate closely with a lean Agile team of Software Engineer, QA, Devops and product managers to manage the full software lifecycle including requirements, architecture, development and testing

* Design and develop server-side components and services for AutoGrid Flex product suite.

* Benchmark and debug critical issues with algorithms and software as they arise

* Work closely with product management teams to understand application requirements

* Assist DevOps in troubleshooting product issues in production and demo systems

About You

* Solid understanding of data structures, coding standards, best practices, software design, architecture.

* Extensive hands on development using MVC architecture, JSON, API development and best practices, performance profiling and tuning tools, and deploying Rails apps on AWS

* Expert in the following:

* Application development in Ruby-on-Rails (RoR)

* Rails ActiveRecord advanced concepts (e.g. polymorphic association)

* Ruby background job frameworks (e.g. Resque)

* Server-side caching ( e.g. memcached, Redis )

* Web services in Ruby (both SOAP and REST)

* Strong SQL skills (MySQL, PostgreSQL)

* Enterprise Messaging framework (Kafka or RabbitMQ)

* Being able to write thorough unit testing (Rspec, Cucumber, etc) with high code coverage

* Self driven, motivated

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Experience with Agile / SCRUM methodology for product development

* Proven ability and desire to deliver projects on time with high quality

* Able to cope with and thrive in fast paced, dynamic work environment with evolving project requirements

* If you are an expert in Java/Java EE and willing to learn Ruby-on-Rails we'll be happy to train you

* Computer Science or equivalent engineering degree. MS preferred

Nice to Have

* Familiarity with the following:

* Web 2.0 technologies: CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JSON, AJAX

* JavaScript frameworks: JQuery, backbone.js

* Exposure to multiple programming languages e.g. Java, C++, Python

* Experience with cloud technologies e.g. Amazon AWS

* Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g. HBase)

* Experience with horizontally scaling web applications (HAProxy, Unicorn)
