We are looking for a Ruby on Rails developer to join our collaborative, remote and empathy driven tech team.
At Eight Bit Studios, we specialize in mashing up User Experience, Design and Development in fun new ways. Our team is made up of hardworking and skilled UX Strategists, Digital Product Designers, Developers, Product + Project Managers, and QA Analysts who care about delivering great mobile and web work that we can all take pride in.
Our technology team builds fun, beautiful, and inclusive products for mobile and web. We are looking for a Ruby on Rails developer to join our team to build out features for a web-based product with a RESTful api that serves companion mobile apps. You will work with other developers, our user experience and design teams, QA, and a project manager to deliver those features on a regular release cadence.

To thrive as a Rails Developer at Eight Bit, we would hope that you:
Know that your code needs to be understandable to the next person that reads it, so you write clean, readable, and well tested software.
Have a good grasp of the web development landscape, have worked with frameworks other than Rails and/or have dabbled in mobile development.
Feel confident working independently, but also accept feedback and naturally do your best work when you are collaborating with the team.
Consider yourself a life-long learner and are open to growing.
Have good soft skills and are able to communicate technical details in a non-technical way.
Are willing to work hard, are unafraid to make mistakes, and try to learn from those mistakes.
Here's what else you need for the role:
4+ years of Rails experience
Comfortable with RSpec and/or Minitest
Experience leading an RoR project
You know your way around most Ruby gems and open source projects
You have dabbled in native mobile development (iOS/Swift and/or Android/Java)
Experience with Relational or NOSQL databases
You have built an API for use with mobile platforms
Experience with containerization is a plus
You enjoy refactoring and improving a rusty codebase
Experience with localization
Experience working on an Agile team
