Company Introduction

ThreatSwitch is seeking a Lead Engineer with intimate familiarity with the web platform. We're building a world-class security management product for some of the world's largest companies, combining the very best thinking from national security, user experience, and web technology. Our vision is focused on a product that brings best-in-the-world user experience to the business of security management. Because we are a young company, you'll need to love getting your hands dirty in just about everything. If you love great design and great technology, and you want to be a part of shaping something new that has the potential to change the way security gets done, join us.

Our stack today primarily includes Ruby on Rails, React, AWS GovCloud, and PostgreSQL. We need your help working with the entire stack, but we expect that you'll be particularly enthusiastic about rails and javascript. In addition, you'll work collaboratively with software engineering to deploy and operate our product, help automate and streamline our operations and processes, build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments.

US Citizenship Requirement

Because of the nature and customers of our product, only US Citizens are allowed to touch the code, so we will ask that you provide verification of US Citizenship.

The current product has baseline functionality but with our new funding we'll be rapidly enhancing and growing the product. We need your help expanding this and rapidly adding author and customer-attracting functions. You will:

*Play the lead technical role in product conversations involving front end, back end, scrum master, and product owner
*Understand not just the technology but the customer
*Make key decisions for the team related to technology and devops direction
*Build new features based on customer development
*Lead estimation conversations for user stories

Mastery of at least two dynamic programming languages (including Ruby)
Experience building at-scale production applications on top of a cloud architecture (preferably including AWS)
Familiarity with scaling at least one type of database system
Proven track record of having built and shipped a large web application
High standards for code quality and testing
Proven experience in agile/scrum

Experience using Ruby in a production environment
Experience using HTML/CSS/Javascript in a production environment
Experience hiring, managing, or leading a team of software engineers
Experience building and administering systems related to virtualized development environments, API and recommendation engines
Ability to participate in high level strategy discussions, work in areas outside of your comfort zone, and work quickly to get things done
Computer Science degree or equivalent

About You
You are a human first, a developer second. People know that they can count on you, and you love it when they do. You are willing and able to partake in and lead communication with project stakeholders. You should be able to explain technical constraints to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You will succeed in this role if you:
Get equally excited about front end and back end
Understand that the world's best products make the complex simple
Know how to balance excellent communication with lightning speed
Think that results matter, and work is something you do -- not somewhere you go
Can articulate the difference between progressive enhancement and graceful degradation
Believe that in a small company, everyone should chip in to remove any obstacle
Could have a conversation about the importance of animation in an interface
Work well with others
Know that your first job is to make everyone around you successful
