Full Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer (Employee #5) Cloosiv builds software that empowers local merchants. Our first product is an order-ahead mobile app for independent coffee shops, delivering the same experience that consumers expect from the big chains, but for your community coffee shop. About the role:As an early-stage employee, you'll be a core member of our small team and your work will directly impact the success of our business. The ideal candidate is passionate about building meaningful relationships, and excels in a fast-paced environment with little direction. As the second engineer, you'll own the entire back end of our product. To be successesful, you'll need to be relentless in shipping optimal features as efficiently as possible, and be passionate about lending a hand wherever you can add value. Responsibilities:Design, build and maintain efficient and reliable Rails codeManage and maintain the application on HerokuBuild and improve the front-end merchant-facing web appBe proficient with creating and maintaining a RESTful APICreate and optimize database queries across the back-endIdentify bugs/crashes and quickly resolve issuesFollow best coding practices across the entire stack Technical Requirements:3+ years of work experienceDemonstrable proficiency with Ruby on RailsSolid understanding of object-oriented programmingHave managed an application on Heroku or AWSSolid understanding of PostgreSQLVery familiar with the concepts of MVC and RESTful Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable applicationAbility to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one applicationSolid understanding of how to create efficient database schemasWrite clean, organized and readable codeProficient understanding of Git Who you are:You're incredibly organized, detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple responsibilities at the same time, often with little directionYou're eager to learn every facet of the Cloosiv productYou can empathize with small business ownersYou're a team player, even in stressful situationsYou're motivated to improve the coffee shop experience beyond what's expectedIf you don't know something, you find the answerThis is a startup, holidays and weekends are inevitable.
