Description:

I found this site while doing some research on ruby, and have a project I want to put together. First off let me say it is a non profit gig, and as such I wont be able to pay. With that said, it might generate some positive PR for a programmer. Actually I have two projects but I will put this one out first to see if their is an interest.

What I would like to do is setup a website where folks like me who live with depression and are on meds can come and fill out a pretty extensive questionnaire on their depression. This will include meds history, depression history, side effects etc etc.

I want to do this because I have been on meds for 10 years and have yet to find a resource medical or otherwise that provides me or anyone else a way to see and document our experiences or really view the experiences of other users and the meds they have taken.

For example, when we are on meds and we miss a day or two, we experience a shocking sensation in our heads, some people refer to it as the zaps, others as an electrical sensation, but if you talk to a doctor they don’t really know what it is. As a person who lives with depression I thought for the longest time I was the only one who experienced this. After reading a few sites I found others who had as well, but it sure would be nice to have some sort of way to survey this and then show like bar graphs etc. of the number of other users who share your side effects.

Now that you have a pretty good picture of what I am looking at, after doing research on the different technologies (ASP PHP) I am looking seriously at ruby. However I don’t have the programming skills to really pull it off so I figured I would see if this is something that would interest you.

Once the site is setup and running I figure we could generate some pretty good news coverage of it, simply based upon what it offers people. Other than that, I just really feel like it is something that could serve everyone like me who is living with depression. If the site ever moves into a profit model or is sold you would have equity in the project through a contract between you and me.

If this is of interest to anyone please let me know, and I will look forward to hearing back from you.
