Description:

Kongregate.com, a web games startup, is looking for employee #5 - an agile developer who gets things done.

Kongregate's mission is to create a great community for web game players and makers. Users will be able to upload games, much like YouTube - we will wrap them with our own chat, profiles, and points system - plus collectible items, achievements, and a central metagame. We will share ad & microtransaction revenue with developers - who will retain rights to their games.

Ideal candidate will:
* Be smart
* Get things done
* Love shipping solid code

Responsibilities:
* Web development - The games site is feature-rich community site. We're developing it in Ruby on Rails - ideally you have experience with Ruby, but strong PHP and Java developers with a demonstrated interest will be considered as well.
* Game client development - User-uploaded games will be wrapped with a Flash framework that implements community features and connects to our game server. Features include: chat, points, achievements, and microtransactions.

We are an energetic startup founded by a veteran of the web games industry. We practice iterative, test-driven development. We're located in San Francisco but willing to work remotely with the right person (Pacific time-zone preferred).

Our preferred arrangement would be contract-to-perm - again, we'll make exceptions for the right candidate.
