Senior Ruby Application Developer

The Opportunity:

ALM Labs is a leading social entertainment company that operates some of the most vibrant dating communities on the web.

Based in our Toronto offices located at Yonge/Eglinton, we are looking for an experienced Senior Ruby Applications Developer to assist in the planning, design, build, verification and support of our current and new online properties.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Extensive web development experience with excellent understanding of current and evolving web technologies & databases
• Previous business and development experience working with dating web site environments is strongly preferred
• Expert Ruby working knowledge with a minimum of 5+ years hands on experience
• Demonstrated hands on experience using MySQL or Postgres, Unix, Memcached, rabbit4 MQ, HAML and SASS
• Basic knowledge of Front end development including XHTML, CSS and JS
• Familiar with OOP principles
• Demonstrated experience in areas including Merb, Rails, Jquery/Prototype or other JS framework are all preferred assets
• Agile/Scrum development experience is an asset as is familiarity with BDD/TDD (rspec rocks)
• Good project planning, management and execution skills
• Solid communication skills and the ability to both lead and work within a team work environment
• Enjoys working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial industry and work environment
• 6+ years progressive related development experience
