Principal Software Engineer

Position Responsibilities:

In this role, you will lead and work with other team members, in taking the LiveOps platform’s web applications into our next phases of growth. Ruby-On-Rails is our platform for web application development, but you will also be required to program in Perl/mod_perl/Mason. This will require efforts in refactoring existing code as well as working on new products/features. At your disposal are all of the facilities of Linux, Ruby, Perl, Java, MySQL, other various open source technologies, as well as home-grown technologies. We practice Agile development methodologies (SCRUM). Some of the duties of this role will be to:

Act in the capacity as a team “SCRUM Master”
Assist in mentoring/leading more junior personnel
Design components/features for our production products

Required Knowledge / Skills:

Solid grasp of general programming concepts, fundamentals, and industry best practices
In-depth web application programming experience
Proficient in Ruby On Rails (RoR) and comfortable/willingness to code in Perl
Solid understanding of [D/X]HTML fundamentals, CSS, as well as JavaScript and AJAX programming, XML, JSON
Strong experience with Databases (MySQL preferred) and comfortable with free form SQL Queries
Comfortable in a Linux/Unix environment
Highly motivated, flexible, passionate, self learner, team player
Strong written, and verbal communication skills
Well versed with source control systems (e.g. CVS, Subversion, ClearCase, etc.)
