Web Developer (Ruby on Rails)

Soft Gravity Inc., a Toronto based startup Software Company pioneering the innovative marketing solutions, is looking for an Intermediate Web Developer.

We are looking for an excellent communicator with solid web development skills to join a small but growing team. The ideal candidate is a self starter with a great attitude who is passionate about development and has a thirst for learning new technologies. We are looking for a person who is able to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions for our clients.

You should be very comfortable with all three major aspects of web development:

- Database development and querying (SQL)
- Server-side development (Primarily Rails, with PHP as a plus)
- Front-end development using jQuery and/or Prototype+Scriptaculous

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop components for smaller web and mobile solutions
- Automated system & unit level testing (Cucumber, Rspec)
- Participate in new product & feature brainstorm sessions
- Troubleshooting, bug fixes and misc. operational duties.

Experience with a wide range of platforms and technologies, including (in order of importance):
- Ruby on Rails (1-3 years)
- Javascript (1-3 years)
- mySQL or PostgreSQL
- HTML, XML, CSS
- PHP
- Unix / Linux / shell script
- Should have knowledge of one other language: Java, .NET, C++, Objective C
