| Description: | American How-To is looking for a project manager to coordinate the design and building of a new site focused on how-to for hobbies. Experience overseeing the development of sites that have social interactivity and e-commerce is a must. Since we're planning to build this site in Ruby on Rails, familiarity with it is a plus. A little more about the how-to site: The audience for this site isn't particularly web-savvy. The design and navigation will be straightforward and easy enough to be understood by your father, mother or even your grandfather. Functionality will enable him or her to upload images of a project; become a member of the page and receive daily newsletters; read blog posts about projects created by other members; ask questions he or she may have about a project; read clearly formatted how-to instructions and watch how-to videos (embedded from other sites). You can look at sites such as Allrecipes.com, Foodnetwork.com and Corkd.com for a similar combination of functionalities. Since we are considering an offshore build, let us know if you're fluent in a foreign language. Send links to similar sites you've worked on and your resume to Leon Spencer at leovspencer@yahoo.com. |
| Required Skills: | -- At least three years of experience in project management. -- A background in UI and/or web development is a plus. -- Ability to be a self-starter and coordinate people from a distance. |
| Employment terms: | Contractor(project) |
| Hours: | Flexible |
