RoR Software Engineers in NYC

Mr Youth, a leading word of mouth and social media marketing company, is looking for software engineers to join our team in our flagship New York office located in Chelsea Market. Mr Youth is profitable, has a star studded client roster and is a recognized industry leader (recently selected as the Social Media Agency of the year by Mashable).

You'll be the first group of engineers joining a separate division of the company recently backed by Alta Communications and the Mustang Group, two Boston based private equity firms, that will be redefining how marketers tap the power of influential and insightful crowds to fuel innovation, promotion and sales. We're a tight-knit group bent on changing the world and having fun doing it. You'll be joining a proven team that have successfully built multiple startups and that has partnered with one of the leading Ruby on Rails development partners in the country.

We'll be building out the new platform from the ground up using best of breed technologies including Ruby, Rails, Redis, Rack, Javascript, MySQL, MongoDB, messaging and others. You'll be working in an agile environment where we focus on keeping things simple and automating as much as possible (from test suites to deployment).

Responsibilities
- Design, build and test the core components of the new platform
- Investigate innovative solutions to platform requirements, thinking outside the box to get things done
- Improving development process making it as automated as possible

Compensation

- Minimum of three years applicable software engineering web applications
- Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails is a big plus (limited experience a requirement)
- Experience building RoR plugins or Ruby gems a huge plus
- Experience with Drools a nice-to-have
- Experience with Baysien classifiers and other machine learning techniques a plus
- Contribution to open source projects or side projects is a huge plus
- Git experience a plus
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, etc...) a plus
- Experience developing APIs a huge plus (or at least love of well designed APIs)
