We’re looking for an entry-level web application tester. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, will be into the hottest Web 2.0 sites, and will be an active blogger or social networker. You’re eager to work on the next great Web 2.0 application.

It’s going to be lots of fun. You’ll be working in a small, agile development environment with very little corporate overhead to get in the way. What you’ll be doing at VisualCV.com:

Test, test, test. Using best practices for quality assurance, web automation, and configuration management.

Automate. Help us build out a robust automated testing infrastructure using the coolest web automation tools.

Deploy, deploy, deploy. Our applications will support thousands of users worldwide. Help us build out and support a world-class production architecture using an evolutionary series of frequent releases.

Grow, grow, grow. Get in early and stake your claim in a rapidly growing r&d team!

What we’re looking for in the perfect candidate:

* Prior experience writing code in a high-level programming language such as Ruby on Rails, Java, Perl, or Python.

* Basic working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.

* Detail oriented with solid organizational skills.

* Clear verbal and written communication skills.

* Must be comfortable with a fast paced environment in which deadlines can be tight and ever-changing.

* Highly organized with the ability to plan and accomplish goals independently.

* Good practical working knowledge of Linux and Windows.

* Prior experience with Bugzilla, Unfuddle, or some other form of bug-tracking tool.

* A college degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred. However, in lieu of such, equivalent work experience is sufficient.

Would be great if you also had these:

* Experience or familiarity with Ruby on Rails.

* Understanding of Agile development methodologies.

* Working knowledge of web technologies like Javascript, HTML, CSS, XML, or PHP.

* Experience with automated regression test development using xUnit, Selenium, and/or Watir.

* Working experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases.

* Familiarity with Linux system administration desirable.

* Apache configuration and tuning

How to earn “Extra Credit”:

• Be active in the Rails Community (contributor, blogger, group membership, etc.).

• Be very familiar with Subversion, Capistrano, Rake, Unfuddle, Monit, and other tools for Ruby on Rails development.

• Have a stack of well-worn books from Pragmatic Programmers and O’Reilly at your desk.

• Show experience with video processing on the web.
