Front End Developer

Equity Only (for now) Front-End Engineer needed for fashion start-up, BrandHabit www.brandhabit.com

We are an exciting internet start-up that has unique software for the online fashion space. On the front end, BrandHabit helps consumers find designer brands in local stores. On the back end, we are a marketing platform for designers and retailers to communicate with each other and reach the online consumer who wants to shop locally.

BrandHabit has some great initial traction and we have received press in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and Women’s Wear Daily. We have a live product and an active, enthusiastic user community. The founder is now recruiting an additional engineer to handle new front end development on the existing application.

While we have great relationships with the investment community, we need to further build out our application and get a bit more traction before taking funding. We expect that we will reach enormous success and realize a quick exit. We are the only company in the fashion space that does what we do and there is a big demand for our services.

We are looking for someone with a passion for what we are doing and someone who has an aesthetic eye as well as technical skills.

This is NOT a web designer position. It is an HTML/RHTML, CSS coder position with AJAX experience and an interest in understanding back end operations including some site maintenance.

If you are a talented engineer who has an entrepreneurial spirit, wants to own a piece of a growing company, and be a part of a successful, quick exit, this may be the job for you. You should be prepared to work for equity only about 6 months, before receiving a salary.

We are flexible with work hours. You can work part-time while you continue at your “day” job and still be a key player in this company.

Responsibilities include:
- Understanding the latest web application technologies, and
incorporating them into the site design.
- Working with the team to communicate the company's style & aesthetic
through design.

The ideal candidate has:
- Excellent understanding of HTML, CSS, AJAX, Java Script-based web development
- Excellent understanding of software user experience design.
- Demonstrable ability to show relevant work.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails and RHTML is a plus!
- This position requires that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Education:
Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
